Maybe Winston is cutting couplings lengthways then using the semi circles as spacers between the boxes, luvverly

Or a long male bush, washers selected to give the right spacing between the boxes, lockring, and female bush.
I'd just use a coupler and two short male bushes - IMO the spacing is better like that. Your tastes may vary.

In that case cutting one in half would give you two 17mm couplers.
