I’m switching out a pedestal sink that seems to be held in place with 2 screws.

The replacement is a vanity unit which “hooks” onto a bracket using the mechanism pictured.

In the existing setup the wall was fully tiled and then the sink was attached by drilling through the tiles.

In the new setup I just want to check that drilling through the tiles is the right thing to do here? These brackets look like they would exert a turning force on the tiles that in my head I imagine cracking from that force.

Is it right to:
- attach the sink brackets on top of the tiles
- or should the tiles be removed and the bracket attached directly to the wall underneath, then cutting tiles to fit around the vanity unit?
