Why?
Bricklayer have a bad back when he was laying them?
Can not see a reason for having them other then cheap and to recycle alot of un needed crap.
Good thermal, sound properties and fire resistant as well as quick to lay .

Or more likely cheap? Always found them poor for noise attenuation, especially in lower frequencies
