Anyone any suggestions as to where we can stop to keep the kids entertained between Brum and Ilchester on the M5, please?

Cheddar Gorge, not to far out of your way, then carry on down the A roads through Wells and turn left at Shepton Mallet on the A37 for Ilchester, I would give Bristol a wide berth due to the traffic but if you must come off the M5 at Avonmouth, head along the Portway under the Avon Gorge Bridge, Brunells, and follow the signs for the SS Great Britain, from there back towards the Cumberlain Basin and turn left for Cheddar.

Nice one! I thought of CG, but Mrs S wasn't too keen, as she thought it was expensive for less than a day's visit. Will re-think that!

Thanks.

Take them to Slimbridge. Kids always enjoy feeding the birds and it's only a few miles off the motorway. An hour or two should do it.
