...The ballot was split down the middle, giving chairman Mark Healey the deciding vote. There were shouts of “shame” and “disgusting” from the public gallery as he voted in favour. [of the increase]...

...The basic allowance for the 25 elected members of the authority will rise from £2,000 to £2,500, while as chairman Mr Healey will receive £12,500...

So that is £15,000 summed increase, £500 each for the 26 members, with £2,500 for the guy with the deciding vote, the chairman.

thanks for that empip, one things for certain the workload of the chairman hasn't increased by 25%.

Dunno why people bash MP's pay, or even consider it an issue (in the context of UK Budgets).

There are 686 MP's.

There are several MILLION public servants, MP pay however inflated it is or isnt, is not the reason we are running a 10% deficit.

Local council staff are the issue, so many non jobs, and so many over inflated pay packets.

Go look up your local council, see if they have a "CEO", I bet a fair portion of you find they earn 100k+ wages.

Now go look at the job pages, If your council is like mine, you will find council jobs offered at above market rates, for jobs you will question the point of.
