Auto window opener can you get one?

I read about bathroom fans, but the idea of a fan circulating air while in the shower sends a chill to my bones. Thermo-syphon will cause quite a draft when the window is open and soon dries out the room. However we forget to close the window, so a device which will open the window for 15 minutes after the light is switched off would be great. Are they made?

I have a centrifugal bathroom extract fan, it moves a lot of air, and I sometimes have the window opposite open too to allow air in. Even in winter I don't feel any chill whilst in the shower, unless there's a gale blowing outside. This is because there is a glass shower screen between me and the airflow. I like your idea though, a window opener/closer. I've seen them used in commercial settings where high windows need opening for ventilation. In fact they have them in Meadowhall shopping centre roof. They do exist. Not sure about security implications though. One would think for insurance purposes one would have to engage the lock on the window rather than rely on the motor and any "lock" mechanisms within.

Bit ugly, but you could use actuators, like on electric gates or smoke vents as linked to fire alarms

Velux (and probably many similar manufacturers) offer a wide range of electronic openers/closers for their roof windows (and associated blinds) - many of which, in this day and age, can be operated from one's smartphone

Interesting it was after yet another "my fan is not strong enough" post I thought about the problem of bathroom ventilation. I know if I simply open a window when I leave and close it latter it will stop all mould forming. But I forget to close it, so bathroom cold when I next want to use it.

I look at all the 12 VDC stuff today and wonder about a 12 volt DC supply in the house as we would have in a caravan or boat. I see the Velux units are 12 volt DC and this reinforces the idea of 12 volt DC. Although units like the Arduino are 5 volt DC.

I really must look at Arduino more carefully I have one to play with but to date only got the light to flash. They look easier to program than a PIC but harder than a PLC. Maybe because I have used PLC's. Again PLC is 24 ~ 30 Vdc not even sure if I can find a PC now which the programming lead will fit so not so sure as to PLC.

As with my beer brewing big job it to find a box to build it all into which does not look ugly. Same with actuators clearly even a old reclining chair unit would do the job but not very neat. This does look quite neat

Nothing else required.

Actuator has 3 wires - neutral, open, close and they generally have limit switches built in so the motor inside will stop once the window is fully opened or closed.
The Columbus switch is a changeover type, so its line in to the common terminal, with the actuator open and close to the other terminals.
