Hi

I have a system boiler in my kitchen downstairs and then a tank in a cupboard on the above floor. Every time we switch the system on in the morning it makes a continuous banging noise for a a few seconds. I have been told by EDF that it’s not included in the insurance but I need a AAV added as I have an airlock which is causing the issue. Can someone please help how I can do this and point me in the right direction in terms of what I need to buy and how do I add this?

please see the pic - I have been told this is where I need to add the aav.

thanks

Thanks Andy.

Sorry to be a pain but would I just need to unscrew the top on the bleed valve I have and screw this on for it to work correctly?

thanks

No, you would need to part drain down then cut the pipe then fit the bottle air vent.

AAV = Air admitance Valve.... you don't want to admit any more air! (and an AAV is for soil/waste pipes to allow water to drain away)

What you need is to understand where the gas is coming from, and stop it getting in. It might be air, or it might be product of corrosion.

I don’t know how to check that as it shows the bars on the power but does not give me a number. Anyone know how I can change this and if so what should I change the setting to?

Not sure that an AAV is your answer to be honest, you need to find out why the system is getting air in
