Automatic air vent leak - Icon 23t combi boiler

Hi,
After draining the central heating to fix a radiator valve (unsuccessfully!) I tried to refill the system by opening the filling valve and returning it to 1 bar pressure. Unfortunately before getting this far water started pouring out of the body of the boiler. I immediately redrained the system and eventually worked out how to remove the outer and inner covers.
It appears that the automatic air vent (identified from the user manual) is the culprit (water coming out of the hole in the air vent screw cap) - and the only quick and easy fix is to screw it shut. My questions are:

Is it okay to leave it shut for a week (max.) while I wait for my brother-in-law plumber to return from holiday? I will not use the central heating in this time - only hot water.

Why has it gone - I never increased the pressure beyond 1bar?

If I need to replace it what sort of cost am I looking at, where can I source an (online) supplier and is it a DIY job?

You should not really have opened the combustion chamber as that should only be done by a CORGI !

However as its already open you could close the AAV cap, repressurise the boiler, run the boiler for 3 secs and then open the AAV for a moment to release air and repeat a few times until air stops coming out.

I hope your relative is CORGI !!!

That part is about £15 ish. How easy it is to fit depends on the skill level. To me its easy but... It also should only be changed by a CORGI because its inside the combustion chamber.
