Does anybody know of a good free anti-spam set-up that works well with AVG?

I know some I've tried in the past have clashed, and at the moment I can't move for Viagra & dollybird e-mails...

Spampal does.

Also, if you feel like you ought to pay for some products, then AVG themselves have an anti-spam product, although it's a bit fledgling.

I don't know where you get that idea from. A lot of spam is generated by virus or spyware infected machines.

all mine i used to get was from sending these free greeting cards and downloading free stuff cos you have to give them your email add. ive always used a good pay internet security program of some kind

Set yourself up a second email address that you only use for registering for free stuff.

Using BTYahoo ISP?

Getting Started With AddressGuard
Occasionally, you may be reluctant to share your BT Yahoo! Mail address with an unfamiliar web site or other Internet service. After all, you don't want it to end up on some spammer's mailing list! Instead of creating a secondary email account to give out (as many people do to protect their primary address), you can use AddressGuard.
AddressGuard lets you create alternate, "disposable" email addresses to use whenever you don't want to give out your real BT Yahoo! Mail address. When someone responds using one of your disposable addresses, BT Yahoo! Mail delivers the message to your Inbox or to a personal folder of your choice.

All the disposable addresses that you create in AddressGuard use the same simple pattern:

[email protected]

You choose one base name (yourbasename). Once you have established the base name, you can create up to 500 disposable addresses, each using a different keyword of your choice. For example, if you chose jacaranda9441 as your base name, you can create [email protected], [email protected], and so on.

Tip: You can't use your BT Username or profile for either the base name or a keyword. This prevents anyone from working out your real BT Yahoo! Mail address from your disposable addresses.

If any of your disposable email addresses starts receiving spam, simply delete that address from AddressGuard. Future messages sent to the deleted address bounce back to the sender instead of filling up your BT Yahoo! Mail account.

To get started using AddressGuard, you need to specify your base name and an initial disposable address

Do other e-mail providers have similar??

Actually BTY mail seems pretty good at managing spam - I get little arriving locally at OLExp .. but lots in the BTY web-based email 'bulk' folder.

;)

Hi , do you use Spybot , it is a great little programme , you can download it from www.download.com and dont forget to virus check it before you open the programme to instal it. When you go to download , click save , and save to your desktop where you can find it easily and then virus check it before installing.

Not much use for spam tho.

No true Igorian , but I thought the person above sorted that out , by saying make a seperate email addy for any software you download from net or anything can could generate spam mail. I have 3 on yahoo for this purpose and all I do once a month is go into the accounts , press delete on the junk mail tab, all done ......... :D ..... and I am femaleeeeeee LOL LOL :D

I cannot change my e-mail address, as whatever spammers use it gets through.

I have my own company-based e-mail address, as you will see from my profile. Whatever prefixes the "@", they come through to me.
