Hi everyone,

I’m trying to put up two awnings (each about 25kg) onto pebble dash but it turns out that we have breeze block underneath. They have supplied two brackets for each awning. Will be great to get some feedback on what I plan to do.

- Use anchor bolts of the same dimensions as the expansion bolts provided as they should just screw into the same holes
- Chip off all of the render around the bolts so they line up flush on the breeze blocks
- Reseal the exposed breeze block that will go under the bolts - best way to do this?
- redo pebble dash around the bolts

Does this sound about right? Any feedback will be much appreciated.

You can leave the render in place, and just smooth it off to receive the brackets and keep them perpendicular

The important thing is that you allow the thickness of the render to be added to the fixing bolts to get the required depth of fixing in the block.

Check what the blocks are like, as "breeze" means a lot of different things to different people. If the blocks are soft and crumbly or have voids (no fines) then you may need a chemical fixing.
