Undertaking refurb on a turn of century terraced house this week. Did PIR on installation and all pretty sound except for kitchen ring. this had no continuity on cpc and IR of less than a Mohm.
Much of the kitchen wiring had to be rejigged so I am starting again.
Here's what I found:
CPC missing - wire just folded back behind socket - never had been connected. Spot the grommet competition.
Lots of cable run out of safe zones but the low IR reading was because of this choc block just buried in half an acre of filler:
