Badly fitted carpet?

Hi there,

Looking for some advice on carpet fitting received a couple of weeks ago.
Carpet was purchased from a larger store and we went ahead with letting them book the fitter, assuming that they would be working alongside reputable fitters.

I wasn't particularly happy with the fit as there's a seam which to me stands out clearly as one half of the carpet has visible parallel lines to the seam for a good 20-30 cm which I think make the seam more obvious. I'm unsure whether this is because the 2 pieces were run perpendicular or whether there is an issue with that part of the carpet. On closer inspection I can fit part of my finger between the 2 pieces of carpet which I understand wont be helping, but the carpet store said to leave it a while and after some hoovering/settling in it may not be as obvious.

After leaving it a couple of weeks though and hoovering, living on the carpet other parts of the job are looking rough. There are areas around all the walls/doors where the carpet line isn't straight and appears to "rise" at the edges, I'm wondering if this means the carpet wasn't stretched or potentially even cut too large. Some of the edges appear to sink making me wonder if the grippers are too far from the edge. And the stairs are looking less and less uniform with some holding a somewhat straight drop between steps and others having obvious curves.

I'm looking for advise on what people more knowledgeable think the issues are. I have been on the phone to the carpet shop today who have said they can send the same guys back to re-kick the carpet back onto the grippers but I don't see this as a solution (especially when I'm not convinced they did the job properly first time) as who's to say the issue will be fixed if I agree to that. Maybe it would be better just to get another fitter to come and look and accept eating the cost associated.

Have attached some images, hopefully I can get some opinions on this, can take more if needed.

Did you have new grippers and underlay ?
Every fit we do we change them or we won’t do the job as if the grippers aren’t in the correct place for the thickness of the carpet you can’t trap the carpet to the skirting correctly to keep it stretched.

Can you pull the carpet back and see how many mm the grippers are from the skirting.

Maybe post pics on the flooring forum as a lot of carpet fitters on there.

Yes we had new grippers and underlay, which I think is why we are more disappointed with the end result. Especially as it's not just one area where the carpet isn't gripped, after going round and checking in detail it looks as though some of the fiddly bits they glued down (as there is no give in the carpet at these points at all) and any area where it doesn't feel glued the carpet just lifts right up with no resistance.

Managed to get a pic of the carpet pulled back and some measurements - it looks as though the grippers are anything from 1.2mm-1.5mm from the wall. One thing I did notice that I don't know if it could be the cause of most the issues is the gripper rods only being 6mm, the shop did talk us into a thicker underlay (10mm) and the carpet has a thickness of 18mm with 15mm pile. I've also dropped the images I attached to the original post as unsure if you can see them.

I have been on to the shop and their solution is to send the same fitters back to restretch, but our concern is if we don't know what the issues are with the job they did then if they come back and do the same thing we could just be back on at them every few weeks.

Gripper is to far away. Your carpet isn’t stretched. So won’t vac properly. I’d be asking for my money back.
