Good Evening

I am looking to balance my central heating system. I do not believe that it was balanced when the house was built as all the lockshield valves are all fully open ?

I have also discovered that some of the TRVs had been fitted on the return side of the radiator, as opposed to the flow.

My question is - can I still balance the system as I understand that for these radiators the lockshield valve would be controlling the rate at which the water leaves the radiator rather than the rate that it enters the radiator.

Many thanks.

Terry has answered you question; however you seem to be muddled about 'flow' and 'return'.

Water enters the rad through the flow pipe, and leaves the rad through the return pipe. Normally the TRV is on the flow and lockshield is on the return; but there's no reason why it can't be the other way round. It achieves the same result: the lockshield controls the maximum flow through the radiator.

Yes sorry got my flow and return mixed up :(

Thanks to all for confirmation that it will not make a difference to balancing the system.
