I have some of these on my caravan, door and 2 on the gas locker - they would have originally come keyed alike but I now have one main door key which doesn't fit the locker keys. In theory I can buy new barrels but the door and locker key barrels aren't quite the same so I may struggle (but I'm still looking).

However, I'm not bothered about locking the gas locker for security but would like to "lock" them so the handles won't turn when I'm driving. My plan is to hammer a screwdriver into the barrels (or hopefully something less crude) to snap the brass tangs off so that any key (including my main door key) will turn the barrel - will this work? I would like it to vaguely appear that the key fits in and is doing something.

If your not too bothered about how secure they are keep the one for the door then remove all the pins except one out of the other 2 barrels then file the pin thats left to match the front door key.
