All the people who were wrongly convicted (including those who were hanged) had been found guilty "beyond reasonable doubt."

Their right to a free and fair trial is a Human Right.
It's enshrined in the Magna Carter, and it's enshrined in the UN Charter.
It doesn't matter how much of a scum bag they are, that Human Right to a fair trial is a cornerstone of the British Justice System.
To remove that right, even in selected cases, downgrades the British System on a par with Latin America, Middle east, some African, Russian and Far East countries.
Which is the greater importance? To safeguard free and fair trials, or to reduce the law of the land to other countries where democracy and justice are just words in the dictionary.
