This is probably a very basic problem however still a problem. I want to remove my rads to clean them, and the valve nuts are solid. There pipe work to them is 10mm and the valves have been on there for 30 odd years without being removed at any time. The more pressure i'm applying to try to loosen the nut ( I'm using an adjustable wrench, i think its 30mm though) I'm turning the whole valve and in turn bending the pipe network near the rad, so I'm scared the pipe may warp sopmewhere. Any ideas how to remove the rad at the valve to aid removal, i.e wd40? heat?
Many thanks.

Use an F shaped spanner or grips to hold the valve still while you undo the union. Heat won't help a lot as it has water in it, but you could use a heat gun to avoid damaging the paint. 30 year old valves are likely to be knackd so you might end up draining to replace them.
