Bath mixer and shower problem

Hi,

I have a basic mixer tap in my flat which my tenants advised me is stuck on the shower setting (see photo) and they cannot get the water to run from the tap. The ring you push down to change it from bath to shower will not budge at all.

I did notice two small holes either side of the ring (you can see one in the photo) but not sure if these do anything.

Do I need to replace the entire tap or is there a simple fix?

Hi Stefan, with it being a let property. I'd advise you just to change the bath/shower mixer for a thermostatic bath/shower mixer. Much safer & you'll not get sued if your tenent gets scalded.
