Bathroom Cabinet Splits

This premium washbasin cabinet was fitted only 2 years ago and it has already started to split. As it is I think MDF it shouldn't fail like this. Unfortunately the guy who fitted it ordered it for us from VP after we decided on which model from their website. We don't have the receipt (or contact with him anymore - long story) so what can we do to fix this ? Is it worth contacting VP (at time of ordering it was 2 seperate companies) so not much chance of any compensation although I have proof via emails with contractor.

I had a similar issue with a different supplier and concluded that the weight of the basin and the stresses that arise from it’s everyday use created a tension in the material that led to the splits. I’m planning to open up the split and fill with epoxy resin, then colour match the paint. I’ve recently used the Val spar colour matching service at BnQ and found it to be pretty accurate.
