Morning all,
looking at replacing the single light in our bathroom with 4 of these:

Looking through the rest of the forum, the first repsonse is always "Notifiable under Part P - Get a spark in".

I'm compitent enough (just a bit lazy though) to perform the work myself so does Part P (or similar) apply in Scotland. A quick Google seems to suggest not.

That being the case, should I consider using these:

To minimise air flow into the attic?

Cheers.

Please don't - those lights cost a lot to run, both in terms of electricity and lamp replacements, and they are appallingly inefficient.

Yes - I don't know if it's a requirement of the Scottish Building Regs or not, but it is in the E&W ones for reasons which are just as valid north of the border, so even if not mandated use them if you don't want your roof to rot.

Assuming of course that you still intend to proceed with your madcap lighting design...

Hi, thanks for responding.

Would I be better with a low voltage alternative. Such as:

Cheers.

No - they are just as bad. On average slightly longer lamp life, but still a short one, and they still burn as much electricity for as poor a job of actually lighting up a room.
