Hi,

Firstly apologies if this is the incorrect section, it seemed the most relevant.

I want to install an extractor fan in the bathroom, but do not want it linked to the bathroom light.

If I purchase a unit such as the Vent Axia VASF100T (https://www.screwfix.com/p/vent-axi...oom-extractor-fan-with-timer-white-240v/6468h), can this be set up with an independent pull switch? I’m hoping that with the overrun I’ll be able to switch on/off, which then would give me 30mins of extraction, before turning itself back off again?

Thanks

Presumably you will be getting your feed from the ceiling rose in the bathroom so if you look at these diagrams https://www.diynot.com/wiki/Electrics:fan you can use 2 core & earth instead of 3 core to the isolator switch then link what would be the live & switched live there so that you have 2 lives leaving the isolator. Then fit your pull switch in the live that goes from isolator to "S" on the fan

Thanks all. Yes, had already looked at one of the pull cord with the little light to know when it's on (if it is a quiet as they claim!).

Not 100% sure on the supply as yet. I've got down lights in the bathroom, and currently have the loft floor up, so should have various options for powering it. Need to decide if to have it on the ceiling, with ducting out from the eaves, or straight out the wall where the existing cavity wall vent is located.

I was assuming the cord and neon would trigger the fan to run on timer for many minutes.

without a neon, you will only find out after the timed period, and the fan hasn't gone off, wether the switch was on or off
