bathroom fan

hi guys first post , so here gos.....im doing a rewire at the moment and just worndering what u recommend with bathroom fan....it will come on with light and have a run on , can i just take my 3 core off my loop in lights and straight in ...

You'll need a 3 pole isolator for maintenance and may also require protection from a 3A fuse though you'll need to check the manufacturers instructions to be certain of compliance.

Don't forget 30mA RCD protection for all circuits entering the bathroom irrespective of installation methods.

Depending on location, the fan may need to be SELV aswell.

230v IPX4 (or IPX5 if water jets are in use) fans are fine for Zone 1.

Yes but don't put it on the same RCD as the upstairs sockets.

it seems like the regs are just going crazy now , having to install 3 pole isolators and the like and rcd protection...i am also doing my own bathroom at the moment and previously had selv fan with ceiling mounted tranny and spur , was wanting to do away with tranny and change for 230 v fan and flush the spur with new lower ceiling but by the looks of things this will just get slated

Three pole isolators have been a requirement as long as I have been sparking.

RCDs for bathroom circuits make perfect sense to me.

It saves you having to cross bond which is a bonus.

Though there are other factors to consider before ruling out the need for supplementary bonding (701.415.2 for the OP).
It may still be required even though a 30mA RCD is protecting the bathroom circuits.
