I'm planning on putting laminate flooring planks in my bathroom. I'm fairly new to DIY and have taken on some previous projects. I want to replace the current vinyl flooring I have and it looks like quite a bad job has been done. I was going to remove the toilet and pedestal sink for a better installation and no gaps from the flooring to the bases like there is currently. My concern is that if I remove the base of the pedestal sink and install flooring, the gap will be too small to put the base of the sink back in since it will be raised a bit. Any advice? I didn't want to raise the whole sink as there's tiling I'd need to sort on the wall.

Thanks

If you plan to do the job properly with underlay etc and the correct laminate, then you will have to raise the basin to accommodate the new height. The same goes for the pan too, but you might get away with that. Just make sure no water is spilt onto the new floor which could cause the laminate to swell if enough runs into the joints. If that was my bathroom, I'd prefer porcelain tiles laid properly over the correct base material. My bathrooms are all tiled and they can even cope with very young great grandchildren (y)

okay, thanks for your reply. Do you reckon pipes will need to be adjusted then or will it be fine.
