Hi. When putting lightbulb in when current is live, it flickers for a fraction of a second then no light. Any ideas how to fix?

Check with another bulb in the house, if ok then faulty bulb, if not - suspect wiring issue. What was up with the previous bulb? - same issue or just gone?

One day a few days ago I pulled the chord and there was no light. I've tried working bulbs from other light fittings and new bulbs, they all flicker for a fraction of a second then go off permanently.

Check if the bulb holder is alligned properly.

Sounds like a loose wire. Have you got any testing instruments?

Your description is a bit rough. When using another light bulb does it do the same thing? Do you have to turn on any breakers after the problem occurs?

My guess is one of the clips that holds the bulb in is probably broke.

So it could be the pullcord, loose connection or broken batten holder.

I would not recommend putting any lamp into (or out of) a live lampholder anyway. Safety first at all times
