Hi,
just a quick question just moved into a house 100mm loft insulation in loft 4 ceiling light in bathroom is it ok to upgrade insulation to 270mm over lights? The lights are led lights and have a fire hood also the insulation that is up there is over them already. Also there is an extractor fan in the ceiling that is covered up is this ok as well.
Thanks in advance.

With the cable in contact with the ceiling or other material to which it can transfer heat 1.5mm twin and earth can still carry around 13A (Reference Method 101# (above a plasterboard ceiling covered by thermal insulation exceeding 100 mm in thickness)).
So at 6A there should be no problem. Where the problem arises is items like showers where the cable would likely need upgrading to 16mm².
