Bathroom or Garage?

hmmm.. ticky this one.. does she ever intend to take a bath in the bath? or a shower?

does she get naked and in the bath while bathing the dog?

is the bath bonded?

I would definitely move that socket though..
or tell her to take the bath out..

regs apply to anywere with a watter outlet and the normal zoned aprotch that u would use in a bathroom applies, an ip rated socket would do it though

I'd already signed it off, it was a large extension, new db bonding etc (the customer was off sick from work with stress-school teacher, so changed her mind by the hour!)

no it doesn't, it specifically addresses areas containing a shower or bath..

the fact that it contains a tap is neither here nor there since it's no longer a regulation to bond kitchen sinks etc..

if the vessel is not going to be used for the purpouse of showering or bathing, then it can probably be passed off as trough or oversized sink to wash the animals..

( please excuse any incoherencies or spelling mistakes, i'm half way down a bottle of wine... )

That's not strictly true. The zones as outlined in BS7671 relate to rooms containing a bath or shower. Rooms containing hand basins for example are not subject to these zones - yet they are obviously outlets for water...

EDIT:
God damn, even after half a bottle of wine you are still a few minutes ahead of me

I would tell the owner to remove one or the other, even if it is only for animals the owner is undoubtedly going to get wet while washing the animals, and with a socket outlet and chest freezer only inches away I would explain that keeping them both in that position is dangerous.

Why should you care? When you fitted the socket it was a garage. What they do to the room after you leave is up to them!!

My thoughts are that as this room contains a bath which is permanently connected to the mains and waste water then I would think that it becomes a bathroom according to the regs...not that I'd want to bathe in it!!
