bathroom pull cord switch

Hi I hope someone can help, I have tried to change a pull cord switch but now no lights on that circuit work I have 3 red wires 2 of which are joined and an earth that is it I did have them working so dont know whats happened
Any advice is greatly appreciated

The two you had that were joined are no longer joined!

One will be a live in , one a live out, and another will be the switched live.

Unless you have also changed the wiring connections elsewhere, like at a light fitting??
 
Thanks for the reply, I've changed 1 single fitting for 5 down lights, I've now got a sparky mate to come & advise me

Doesn't needing five lights instead of one tell you that you've changed to lights which don't work nearly as well as the one which you had before?

What's above the bathroom?
 
Thanks for the replies but it's sorted now was just a loose connection, the bathroom is on the 1st floor so only the loft above but I'm in the process of putting a false ceiling in

So the downlights will be in the false ceiling - no holes in the one into the loft?
 
Yea that's right there's about a 12" void between the loft and the false ceiling
