Hi, I would like to install a pull cord switch to operate the fan in the bathroom. It is currently operated by the light switch and also has fused switch unit outside the bathroom. the fsu wiring is live in (red) , live out (red) , neutral in (black) , neutral out (black) and two earth wires. The new pull cord switch has L1, L2 , com and earth. Is this a suitable switch to use and if so what is the correct way to wire it.
Any help much appreciated.

Loru the sections marked FAQ and WIKI at the top of the forum. Its all there.

Please remember that all electrical wiring in a bathroom is notifiable. The task you describe is very elementary and if you dont know how to do it you should get a competent electrician in who can do the notifiaction bit for you.

BANG!

If you are really in Scotland, Part P will not apply, but other restrictions may.

Your fan is currently wired to be triggered by your bathroom light switch. Do you want it to be independent?

In which case, you need a completely different set-up.

Exactly which will depend on whether you have a timer fan or not.

not independent, only to be able to switch on/off while light is on.

live in to L1 , live out to com , join neutral with connector block and both earths into the earth terminal ? (only kidding about "various combinations" ;)

I assume then its not a timed fan (runs on after you turn off light)
You would need switched live from the light or light switch light into com, L1 to fan, and neutrals in connector block. But this is will be against regulations as you need to be able to isolate the fan from both neutral and live, hence why there is currently an FCU.
