Baton distance for plasterboard sheets

I'm putting up a false ceiling to conceal pipes/electrics. What I need to know is whats a recommended distance seperation between batons? Also any particular type of baton? probably not i guess, but no harm in asking. I've had damp issues in the past which im hoping to rectify with a heat recovery unit, but any suggestions to keep these under control as well most welcome. thanks in advance.

Either 400mm or 600mm centres for 2.4m boards and 450mm centres for 1.8m boards.

Personally i do not use 600mm centres in any scenario so i would opt for 400mm centering.
