For some reason while looking at an electrical issue in the house the electrician replaced a pendant light fitting with a batten one. We were so glad to have light at the time we weren't too bothered but would now like to change this back.

Does a batten fitting have different wiring to a pendant? Don't want to start a job then find out it's not as straightforward as I thought!

Depends what you call a Batten one, original Battens have the wiring confined in the back bit, whereas Newer battens have the Batten bit moulded on to what looks similar to a ceiling rose, however the wiring will be the same regardless, just take note whats what before disconnecting anything.
Is it in a bathroom.

Post a picture of
The "batten" that you have in mind and...
the wiring where the pendant attaches to the ceiling.
