It's a little alarm. There is no socket for an adaptor. Just runs off 8 AA batteries - there is a control unit and a siren which run off 4 AA batteries each.
Control Unit:

Stand-by current approx 0.1mA
Alarm current 120mA
Siren:
Operating voltage 6V
Current input max 120mA
If it is an intruder alarm,it would be better to have it on a rechargable battery maintained at float with a small charger (the current required will be very small).
You cab get 6v Sealed Lead Acid batteries,which are usual for this purpose, at reasonable cost.You can get them from Rapid or Maplins. they are very tolerant of being left unused for long periods.
"Yuasa" is a very good brand but there are others at lower prices. You can probably find their brochure on the web somewhere which tells you charging rates and discharge rates. You will not need a very big one.
