Battery powered hand-drill + Safety - Please help!

I know this may be a stupid question, but I am a woman lol.

My outside shed has accumulated about an inch of water in it due to a leak. I want to drill holes in the flooring to let the water drain away. Is it safe to use a re-chargeable battery drill to do this i.e no fear of shocks?
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes you will be fine, but drill it on the slow side so as not to throw water up on your drill and maybe causing it to fail in the future.

bit drastic! what sort of floor is it? can't you bail it out with a dustpan and buckets?

use a syphon tube and mop up any that remains

is it a concrete floor, wood or what?

It's not... chipboard, is it?

is it tiled or covered in vinyl or what?

where wil the water go?

It is some sort of board. Not sure if it is chipboard. Would that matter? The water will seep away into the grass.

yes, chipboard absorbs water and then falls apart like wet weetabix if it has been wet. After it has dried again it is as strong as dry weetabix.

so you may be needing a new shed floor before you fall through it.

Shuttering ply is strong and cheap.

Thanks for that information John. I will bear in mind shuttering ply when I have to replace the floor, but in the mean time, I just need to get it drained. Do you agree with libby that it will be safe to use the drill?

There is no danger whatsoever of electrocution using a battery powered drill.
