Baxi 552 Boiler help please.

Well get them back to fix your problem then cos from what we can see your heating is a subtle blend of dogs dinner and pigs ear...Folk like you make me laugh, been in the building trade for 25 years and all you've learned is how to cut corners and cobble things up on the cheap... So you're off to another site?.... Bye

Erm exactly my point, why not just pay a gas safe plumber 4 grand and just put a combi in, oh yeah, I forgot, my last cowboy job paid for that!
I forgot to tie up my horse and now I have to skimp and save a little to pay for it!
Sorry m8, I don't cut corners, I just refuse to pay extortionate rates and prices to guys like you who just laugh on a friday night at what suckers they ripped off during the week.
I have seen it all m8, and although alot of trades get some stick , don't give me that crap, I know how it works!

do you have a valve as in the pic i posted ?

Hi m8, only valves I think I have are in my 1st post pic, I was thinking maybe it was something to do with the wiring but lots of things come to mind in this scenario.
Cheers
Andy

Clearly you don't... Similarly, you aren't bright enough to realise that those guys who you believe rip folk off and laugh about it on a Friday night are also the same guys who you are asking for free help..

As I said before, since the original installer is so fantastic, then I should get them to fix it....Assuming that there ever was an installer.

OK I am assuming you are, have been or know someone associated with plumbing, I dont really care, you attitude stinks, and you remind me of people in my book to knock off my xmas card list. I don't ask for free help, the guys around me in the building trade offer 'free' help and advice.

I will pay top whack if it makes my mrs happy, but she has made a point of getting our heating system as cheap as she can, and in no way does that mean cheap as in dodgy!

I have worked with these guys in the past and I fully intend to ask them to sort this out, my question originally was... what do people think is the problem, this is a forum right?
And you say 'assuming there ever was an installer' I have house insurance, and kids, you think I am gonna risk them and my wife, FU pal, if you have no input then keep quiet!

you have had installed a second hand gas appliance fitted as your main source of htg and hot water

said appliance is dependent on a complicated system of valves, pumps and microswitches running in series with external timers and stats

it requires by law a set amount of permanent ventilation, and a flue system which is antiquated

I have house insurance, and kids, you think I am gonna risk them and my wife,

well the insurance should cover the cost of their funerals, so yer conscience will be clear then

What do you think I have done, fitted it myself and asked you what went wrong?
I haven't even had the bill yet, ffs get off my case!
The system has been fitted by registered gas safe and corgi registered plumbers, what do think I should do, erm this is getting silly!

Ediit, ah I see your point, you think because its 2nd hand its not safe, hmmm I must inform the guy that sold it to me (a British Gas engineer) and let him know, for gods sake! Maybe because it has no instructions and has a wee bit of usage, it may not be safe. I might be able to sue the guys that installed it, thats what this world is coming to!
I know the rules of energy efficient boilers and the BS that goes with it, so I am asking you guys that actually like to help people, other than critisise, and open the rule books!

Andy

But you have risked your house insurance, wife and kids haven't you? Most of the regulars on here have seen the effects of a substandard BBU installation.. I know that I have. In my case it was a know all home owner who decided that he didn't like the draught coming from the ventilation..

By asking your question you have asked for free information, a cheek since you believe that we are all robbers in the plumbing and heating trade. Perhaps this is how you carry out your business, but it is not how I run mine, please do not measure others by your own lack of standards

You cant be serious when you say I am asking for free information?
I didn't say you were all robbers, and this is not how I carry out my business, you really have a problem dont you, you just cannot bring yourself to help someone can you?

I would seriously doubt that the 'working folk' would ever afford you 'if you even are anything to do with heating and gas' as your attidude is just the typical of people to avoid

I have never been complacent when it comes to gas, and don't risk anything to do with it, so don't even go to the funeral bit. You guys are acting like I just got off the banana boat (oops racism) and found some pipe on the beach!

I know the laws on energy efficiency and all that, lets just face the facts shall we, instead of gathering a search party and hanging me!
My new (2nd hand) boiler comes on intermittently even though the timer switch is turned off, Kev has contributed to the thread (that does not make him a cowboy) and said it could be the wiring, which I agree (and will get the electrician back asap) does anyone else have a valid contribution please.

Andy

So you are saying that concerns over your safety are not valid comments... fine!

Your new old boiler has been removed for a reason, it has reached the end of it's useful life. Your installer shouldn't have fitted it so the question is what else have they done that they shouldn't have. Of course if it all goes wrong then they can easilly be traced.. I know how the building trade works too, just worked on a house previously owned by a builder... The radiators now all get hot and the bath in the en suite fills in a reasonable time... Oh And I removed the tap isolator fitted to the rising main..... I'm afraid that I couldn't do much with the gap at the bottom of the dwarf wall in the conservatory though, I have reccomended a decent builder to put that right... In your opinion, anyone who does the job right is a rip off merchant and this is what irritates me

Tell you what EvoStik........ you must be an extremely thick wood butcher coming on here looking for help on an illegal gas installation, bet your the sort that has no MOT,Insurance.

Run along and play with the Traffic, idiot :P

Whatever pal, I wouldn't expect any sort of valid reply to my thread coming from you, if thats your idea of of one.

It may not be to current regs but a ten year old 552 could quite easily have another 15 years at least left in it.

Yep lets all fit energy efficient appliances , just going to the pub where there will be 15 people huddled outside in a shelter keeping warm with gas/electric heaters burning full blast heating up the open air.

Providing everything has been fitted properly who is it harming , customer who cant afford latest stuff has a working appliance and guy has made money.
But i would expect the copex to have been renewed but a bet it hasn`t

boiler is near obsolete,u will find it tuff getting parts for it,very soon.
hope they renewed the flue liner.
spent a pound to save a penny
