Greetings to you all. :D

My problem is thus, a couple of days ago my pilot light went out on my Baxi boiler that is mounted behind my gas fire. I manage to get it lit and it stays alight but the when the gas is called for, either water or heating, it only runs for about 10 seconds when I hear a click coming from the grey button, that you push when lighting the pilot, resulting in the flame going out.

What I do notice, lying on the floor and looking in from underneath, is the pilot flame is a nice blue colour (the guys at work tell me this is good). When the main gas is called for it burns blue and then seems to become a more yellow colour just before it trips out. I assume this is due to a flue issue? (following the fault finding chart) I am about to embark on the process of having my chimney swept and would just like confirmation that I am barking up the right tree re my fault finding? Thank you for taking the time.
p.s. I am also waiting for our gas man to come back from his holiday in Florida so that he can service it again. You gas guys have it good!! :D
regards, Graden

Get this BBU Serviced by a Registered Gas Engineer ASAP these can be dangerous if not regularly maintained and it sounds like yours needs a damn good Service!

Your appliance should be serviced every 12 months i.e. the firefront removed and backboiuler cleaned and checked at that periodicity.
Then boiler and chimney should have been checked. From what you write, I wonder if that has been happening.

You do not need a chimney sweep but a boiler service/ check.

I agree with the above posters also from my experience it sounds like the gas valve is partially choked, which would lead to the fault described and yes cancel your chimney sweep, these boilers have a metallic liner up the chimney so a sweep is completely useless.

As a side issue, unless your chimney sweep is gas safe registered, how is he going to attempt to clean the flue off the BBU?

This boiler is severely sooted up.
DO NOT attempt to use it.
It WILL spill carbon monoxide into the room and could KILL you or your family
Switch the pilot light off by twisting the grey button clockwise.
GET IT SERVICED BY A RGI IMMEDIATELY
