shut the flow and returns off under the boiler (first and last 22mm pipe)
Call your local Baxi specialist.

If you can find yourself a decent local RGI who knows what he is doing, he could probably repair the existing valve which is not that hard, and overhaul kits are readily available.
Don't know the price for this diverter, but some are unpleasantly expensive.
Would be worth having him check if the system is corroded. If it is, it is a good idea to get that sorted before it becomes a costly exercise. Failing diverters and corroded systems often go hand in hand.

thanks all involved for their help 1 last question
i have had 2 plumbers in 1 said the whole valve had to be changed total cost £400 the other said just the dhw pressure diff valve had to be changed cost £125
whos right please

1st plumber is correct but 400 is a V steep price imo. A fixed price repair from baxi/pott or a utility company might be a better option if thats what prices your getting quoted

Diverter valve service kit. Takes about 90 mins to fit. Very fiddly.

Not available as a Baxi/pott part so you need to order it for the alpha 240/280

Isolate the rads first though and then try the water. A blocked plate HE can cause water to be forced down to the rads.

400 quid to change a diverter? In Kent? Even in London that would be very expensive, and life is a lot dearer here.
In Kent you should be able to get a decent job done for about half that. That is providing the boiler is not hugely neglected resulting in all the connections having rotted solid.
