The pilot light is ok but the burner is not firing up.

I had a look at the thermostat and there is a waxy layer around it. I am not sure whether this is just grease to lubricate it or whether the liquid has come out?

could this be the reason why the burners are not firing up.

Any help much appreciated.

are you actually getting a switch live demand to your boiler

Yes it seems to be ok.

You mean 30/4pf not he.

If pilot is lit and sparking has stopped then it is the gas valve solenoid at fault
