I'll try and get some pics to make this clearer. But the situation is as follows:
Used to be an oil boiler in the kitchen tied to an external brick chimney.
Boiler has been removed, flue liner ripped out and bottom of chimney blocked up.
I want to install a BBQ area just outside the kitchen, including possible Tandoori and or pizza oven and a smoker... Problem is, It's close to the property boundary and next doors windows. I can foresee smoke and yummy food gas getting into their master bedroom and being a pain.
So, I was wondering, as I have a big brick tube going up the side of the house, could I...
1) Fit a lintel in the outside of the chimney and make a new opening
2) fit a new liner, and connect it to a BBQ extractor.
3) pump smoke and yummy food gas out the existing chimney.
Providing I keep it clean and it's restored as required for a normal chimney, I can't see any reason this won't work / not be dangerous.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Fubar.
