Hi there can anyone tell me if its normal practice to have plastic beading down each corner edge of a gable end wall?? have seen it aroud the window frames before but not on the corners, does it serve any purpose to the roughcast.

beading is used to give 2 things:

1) more durable corner
2) something to plaster up to

reason they are plastic is to be weather proof, either plastic or stainless steel are used outside.

having said this i'm no renderer, it's just my understanding

I used plastic beads a few weeks ago (Bell beads) for the first time and as I have always used galvanised beads ( stainless when specified) I didn't like them. So I used galvanised on the extension I was rendering, and was a lot happier!! People say that galv' beads will go rusty but I have found they only rust when spreads keep running their trowels up and down them to clean the "snots" and muck off them.....

should they be visible though looks a bit bling to me like too much plastic showing, it looks ok round windows and doors but at the gable?

i wouldnt expose the whole corner of the bead! i would normally run my finger down the corner to give a nice clean line of around 10mm which i would consider to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

the whole bead could have been covered over if you had so desired.
