People,

I am going to have bedside cabinets professionally fitted either side of a double bed. These will be secured to the wall.

I would appreciate thoughts on whether electical sockets are generally mounted at low level just about the skirting and slightly behind the bed or alternatively above the bedside cabinets???

Many Thanks

Slightly behind the bed is not good - unless the bed is bolted to the floor! Beds move around for all sorts of reasons so anything plugged into a socket "just behind one" is likely to get knocked. :( :( :(

I know it looks tidier to have the socket out of sight but, on balance, I would recommend a double socket on the wall just above each cabinet.

Cheers space for such a quick response. A couple of things to bear in mind for this installation are:-

1. The sockets are very swanky MK Chrome items so look pretty ace.

2. The bed will be a quality bed on castors on very thick carpet so this is worth considering as well.

The bed will be a quality bed on castors on very thick carpet --

That's what we've got and it does creep across the floor. I would recommend you fit your 'swanky' chrome sockets a few inches above the cabinets.

I screwed castor cups to the floor so bed does not move, fitted floor sockets below bedside cabinet, don't like to see them no matter how shiny they are. ;)
