Hi I've a problem with my oil burner and I'm trying to find a download for the user manual to try to resolve.i think it might be my ht leads or transformer.

Unfortunately not mate as I can't see the b11( if that is indeed my make lol) make.i was on that site. Thanks for your reply btw

This is a picture of what's happening. Won't let me upload video..you can see the flash/spark where I think the ht lead is damaged and shorting off metal casing

There's nothing particularly outrageous about the B11.......can you give us the symptoms please?
Basically when you want the burner to come on, the following happens:
The motor starts spinning, the ignition spark is present . This purges the flue with fresh air.
After around 8 sec, the solenoid coil on top of the oil pump is instructed to open, oil flows to the nozzle and ignition takes place.
The photocell sees light, and the oil flow is maintained.
The ignition spark stops.
John :)

I'm afraid I can't see where the errant spark is occurring, but for sure it needs to be at the electrode tips, nowhere else!

The motor comes on then this sparking occurs and a smelling off burning.(.not oil burning)it doesn't ignite.

John
It's not at the electrode tips that's why I think it's the ht leads maybe damaged..these haven't been changed in over 25 years o think..thanks for your help btw

No worries - check out Heating World of Spares on line catalogue - they have good pictures and are very helpful on the phone.
If the leads are arcing out then that obviously needs to be sorted! The leads often just plug into the igniter unit, but some are moulded in.
Knowing the length of them is helpful!
John :)

Thanks again for your help..hopefully I can take it apart and get a closer look at leads.was just hoping for a manual to show me how

If you remove the blast tube by loosening the 2 captive allen screws, you will expose the electrodes. If you then isolate the burner and remove the control box and put a temporary bridge between the live feed and the transformer feed, when you reconnect the power supply there should be a spark at the electrodes. You will also be able to identify any short circuits in the leads.

Too technical for me tbh
I'm going to remove it from the blast tube to see if i can get a look at the leads.thanks for your help btw appreciate all the replies

Thanks for all your help.got a repair guy out..new transformer ,leads and control box required..hopefully not too dear or if its cheaper a refurbished one

I'm a very very old commercial heating engineer and I find it a minefield as regards getting screwed for spares. Spares Base are the cheapest I can see on the NET and another slightly dearer by a £1 is PHC Doncaster the other one is Cheshire. I have learned to evaluate what seems impossible these days.
The old burners re info seems abysmal so it's a good job I've still got a few manuals in the cupboard !
As an instance a rubber coupling between pump and motor shaft both 8mm with flat that 2 nylon adaptors each end ( 8 teeth) can cost £40 if you've got money to burn but that first company have got them for £2-28 yes £2-28 plus post of £6 which is again too much but how can anyindividual stop being screwed ? I'm so glad I don't have to go out there nowdays bvut just play about with my own heating.
