Best choice of wood for making exterior entrance gates.

Hello All - I am looking to build some entrance gates for my house which has a 9ft 3" opening to the rear garden. I am going to buy 2 6x6 posts to hinge the gates off of and make 2 x 4ft gates. What would be the best type of wood to use for this job? There are just so many choices, I will be adding creosote to the finshished product for weather protection. Any guidance much appreciated,
