Best Technique for External Solid Brick Walls, old house

The house used to be damp but drying out now, which is the best External walls on the internal side

Scrach 1:4
bonding (or hardware or browing)
1 coat multi

or is it better

Scratch 1:4
2 coats multi

Any preference

If it's a solid wall I would consider battening it out, fitting insulation then plasterboard with skim finish.
