Best underlay for laminate flooring

Hello
looking to cover up bare floor boards with some laminate, but does anyone have advise regarding which underlay is best to use to keep the cold out. I have seen the polystyrene + foil type at Homebase or the compressed fabric tiles at Wickes + B&Q
