Hi All,

I'm going to be installing electric under-floor heating (EUFH) in my flat & need to replace the existing floor with another wooden floor. From what I can see, engineered wood is the best option, but I was wondering whether I need to further narrow it down based on the thickness of the wood? Are certain levels of thickness better suited for EUFH? Please let me know.

Thanks

The underfloor heating system should have a Tog rating recommended not to be exceeded by whatever flooring you are fitting over the top. You will need an Underfloor heating underlay specific for use for wood/laminate floor over underfloor heating so something like Duralay Heatflow Underlay, this has a Tog rating of .75Togs I believe. The Wood flooring you are looking at should have a Tog Rating as well, add these together and it should not exceed the Tog Rating of the UFH system. Always best to Float fit wood and laminate over UFH.
