Better Bathrooms Ravenna toilet waste outlet - PLEASE HELP

Hi Guys,

First post here and am looking for some advice about a Ravenna toilet I've purchased from a place called Better Bathrooms:

My plumber told me about a previous install with this toilet and that he had had issues with it because the waste outlet on the pan did not stick out far enough (around 2-3cm). This meant that it kept coming off when flushing the loo! I went into store to double check and found that the display toilet had a 7cm outlet length all around as below as well as the ability to install the waste through the wall OR floor (photo below):

Today, my toilet was delivered and the back is completely different. The bottom section is closed meaning the waste cannot be installed via the floor (not a problem in my case as mine is via the back wall) but the bottom section of the waste outlet is stepped meaning that only 2cm of it can go into the waste pipe (pics below)

The question I have is, is a 2-3cm outlet length enough to put the soil pipe onto or is there a major design flaw with this toilet? I just wanted to sanity check with people who know what they are talking about to make sure there really is an issue. I also wanted to make sure there was not another way to put the waste on that the plumber had not thought about.


As a side issue, Better Bathrooms are an awful company to deal with. I spent 1hr 45 on hold waiting for customer services and the showroom would not really help me as I had ordered online instead of in store. I'll wait to see how they deal with this issue before tellng people to stay away but its not been a great start.

Personal view is that 20/30mm may well be too tight for the pan connector.

If it's not fit for purpose then you have the right to a full refund. If the product you viewed in the showroom before purchasing isn't the same one then even more reason for a refund.

If you do decide to fit it then make sure it's a good quality pan connector (McAlpine), make absolutely sure that the alignment is spot on and don't use any lubricant when fitting the connector.

Having looked at your photo's again, I assume that the first one is the showroom and the others the one which was delivered? Clearly a different product and the website description is not accurate - no arguments - full refund.

Thanks for your post. Your right, pic 1 is the showroom. Pic 2 believe it or not is the another of the same toilet in the same showroom. Pic 3 is the toilet I received which is the same as 2. I've asked for a refund so hopefully they will sort it out quickly. Judging by the wait I had on the phone today I don't hold out much hope!

2) The item is not fit for purpose

Refund or write/email them advising that you will take county court action against them in 7 days

Don't bother hanging on the 'phone - email/post (rec'd del) will leave a trail

If they have a Facebook or Twitter page and they don't refund them start posting - make sure it's accurate

There may be another way - A fernco or flex seal connector : Have a google

Where do they get all this rubbish? I struggled with a toilet last week with a tapered spigot, connector kept popping off.

When dealing with Better Bathrooms, the quality depends on the actual model. I have fitted some good products from them and some really bad ones. I submitted a bad review for one of their toilets but it never ever appeared on their web site. Even after contacting them and asking why my good reviews appeared but my bad ones didn't, they assured me that all reviews would appear - good or bad. But it never did.
