I've done a little search but could not find anything..

I'm building an extension with bi-fold doors down two ends .. I saw this online and love the idea:

But I'm not sure how much it would cost.. does anyone have a rough idea.. I'm assuming the steel might be very costly.

thanks

I guess I'm asking the difference between 2 sets of bi folds - with a 'corner post' and the steels for a 'moveable corner post'.

The later will cost more as the steel needs to be cantilevered but 'how much' more.

For an idea one wall is 4meters long (was thinking of having 3meter wide bi folds - so a meter wall at one end - and then the bifolds going to the corner.. the 'adjoining wall' is around 2and 1/2 meters so was thinking a 2meters of bi fold

I have a rough idea about how much the doors themselves would cost - but the cantilevered steel no clue!

A traditional cantilever beam will allow about 1/3 of the beam to cantilever, so a 2m opening will require a 6m beam. Unless your extension is 6x6 or you are prepared to destroy your house in the process then some other kind of engineered solution will be required rather than simple cantilevers. So some kind of structural frame would need to be designed and anchored down in the non cantilevered corners, I'd guess you could add £7K to the job, to include the additional design work, frame and construction.

We have made steels for projects like this at work they cost a fortune and were huge in length and section it took the project manager a very long time as very few people who had the skills to draw it up plus needed a crane to lift them in personaly the huge cost and complex install verses a simple corner post doesnt outway
