Hi all,

I hope I'm in the right subforum, let me know if not..

I just bought a one bed end of terrace 80s house in London and the neighbour (also new) says he can hear his other neighbour talking, cutlery while eating, etc. He hasn't moved in fully and my house is a building site as it needs a lot of updating but I wanted to make the bedroom especially as soundproof as possible so removed the dot and dab. As you can see, there are some large holes (!) in the breeze block wall behind it which is the party wall with the neighbour's. The holes are about 12 inches deep! Any idea why and what I can do about filling them and maybe doing a parge coat over the wall to better soundproof

fill the holes ,line it with soundproofing and board over.

As mentioned above mix some muck up and fill the holes
Buy decent sound proofing for the walls and if you can spare the space also get some plasterboard with sound proofing on , it will be quiet as a mouse unless your neighbour is a heavy metal
