I’m making an L shaped home bar to go in a summerhouse.
My wife (the boss) wants the bar top to be tiled.
The bar framework is currently made out of timber and I would have to put a solid top on before adding the tiles…….I have some spare OSB board that I could cut to shape/size and use.
Can I then tile straight to the OSB board? Would I need to prep it in any way or would a different approach be advisable?

It would be alot better to tile onto something that isn't subject to movement from changes in moisture content.

A hardiebacker would be more suitable, or KERDI-BOARD for a more modern solution (its light and cleaner to use i.e. faster).

KERDI is particularly suitable for building worktops that then get a tiled covering since you can have the matching U profile in brushed stainless or the Rondec / Quadec profile for a neat edge design.
