I cut to the bit about owning a van - the whole thing is worth a watch, especially the observation about kids these days not knowing how to play with abandoned fridges....

As we are in dispute with the council, over their failure to collect the mattress, I have checked my security cameras recording. They did actually turn up at the gate, at 7:38, one got out, looked up the drive, got back in, and they drove off, one minute later. The item was where it was agreed it would be, in the drive, but alongside the drive. We have a long drive, not all of which is visible from the gate. Just five minutes later, in expectation of them collecting it, it was dragged down nearer to the gate.

They had my mobile number, they had my landline number, they had my email address, and they could simply have knocked on the door - did they bother - nope!

Now collected! They made a special collection, and knocked at the door to ask where it was - rather than have it soaked, and heavy, we had moved it into the hut, round the back.

I emailed my local councillor, offering to provide the section of video, where they just briefly glance up my drive, then drive off. The council are trying to claim it wasn't where it had been stated it would be, on the drive. It certainly was, had they only bothered to look properly, knocked, or rung to ask.
