Local church had it's lightning conductor ripped off for its scrap value

The thieves apparently used a 4 x 4 car and a tow rope. But they also pulled the top of the spire down with the conductor. Sadly it did not land on the 4 x 4.

Moral is lock up your copper.....

Yeah I emptied our loft at the weekend cos we are having the insulation redone. I pulled out a few lengths of no longer used copper and iron gas/water pipes and left them at the side of the house.
They were there sunday night, some bugger had nicked them by tuesday morning by the time I went to get my bike out of the shed

Well at least they didn't take the shed.

They are also stealing in service telephone and signal cables from along railway tracks. Lets tell them the overhead supply cables are pure copper.
