Unsure what you mean by matter but to me they went downhill years ago when they were brought out.

Black and Decker used to matter big style in spennymoor where I am now..Employed lots of people and was a huge part of the local economy...until they packed up and went to eastern Europe.

What really matters to a tradesman is reliability and whether a product is serviceable.

My 35 year old B&D electric drill (with hammer function mind you!!) is still going strong and it matters to me!! Does that count?
